The Haitian cichlid (Black Nasty) can be found in the local rivers and lakes of Haiti. The Black Nasty is well known for its aggressive nature and can be more aggressive than Jaguar and Dovii cichlids. The Haitian cichlid is often kept as a solitary fish but can also thrive when kept with other equally large and aggressive fish.
The Haitian Cichlid
As with all large cichlids good filtration is very important because they produce a lot of waste. Plenty of aeration is also recommended. This species does best in medium hard water. The temperature should ideally be kept between 73 - 82°F (23.0 - 28.0 °C) and the pH between 6.0 and 7.5. A 75 gallon aquarium or larger is recommended
